Crown Commercial Service (CCS) supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2019/20, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth more than £1bn – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
The Challenge
enTrader won the contract following an open competition for a cloud-based energy trading system. Systems were assessed against a number of functional and quality criteria whilst ensuring value for money.
The Solution
Contigo’s Software-as-a Service (SaaS) ETRM system for CCS will be used by its Energy team. The team procures electricity and gas for more than 1,200 customers across the public sector, with a total spend of more than £1.5billion per annum.
The Implementation
enTrader was implemented into production on time and on budget. The coming months will see Contigo enhance its SaaS system for CCS with the addition of new modules.
The Results
We are delighted to announce [Energy One] as the selected supplier for our energy trading system. There was a lot of interest in this competition, and [Energy One’s] bid scored highest against the criteria used. CCS has moved to the SaaS solution on schedule and this has allowed internal legacy servers to be decommissioned.

Energy One UK has implemented its cloud-hosted enTrader® ETRM solution for Crown Commercial Service (CCS).

Our SaaS offering means we host and manage the service for clients, automatically applying updates to the software, so that users are able to stay up-to-date with industry changes, security updates and performance requirements, and can achieve greater agility and future-proofing.
